Do registry cleaners really work?
This is a very commonly asked question, and the answer is yes, they do work, but only if you use it in the right manner.
Some good registry cleaners
Though there are many registry cleaners available, I prefer ParetoLogic’s RegCure. This is because it is easy to use and users can customize it as well. Besides, it gives them the option to schedule tasks, and a feature called the “Startup Manager” allows users to stop programs to load during boot-up. On my personal computer, this program worked really well, fixing about 726 errors, and decreasing the boot-up time from 4:43 minutes to 2:44 minutes. Also, there were no crashes or errors on the computer. The good thing is that RegCure works very well on Windows Vista as well. You can download it for free from the internet.
How do the registry cleaners work?
Windows registry is vulnerable to getting corrupt and cluttered due to some junk entries. For instance, if you fail to uninstall a file fully, then certain entries are stored in the registry as junk entries. A huge pile up of such entries can affect the processing speed of the computer since these entries are the “dead ends” which Windows follow. The registry cleaner removes all these useless registry files, and sets them in a proper manner so that the computer runs very smoothly. This is the basic way in which the registry cleaners work. With the passage of time, the registry can accumulate many such obsolete files, which is a common result of your computer slowing down “over time”. So the slowing down doesn’t mean that the computer is going old, but it means that the registry is blocked with junk entries and files.
Should a registry cleaner be used?
As said, registry cleaners remove the useless and obsolete files that are clogged in the registry. A single or a few of these obsolete entries cannot cause a big problem, but when many of them accumulate over time, it can slow down the computer. Besides, registry errors are most common reasons behind computer crashes and freezes. If there is any conflict of the registry files with the current software, the computer ca crash or freeze. So a registry cleaner helps you tackle these problems by clearing and removing all these unwanted stuff from your computer. If you have never tried cleaning your registry, use RegCure and you’ll vouch for the fact that registry cleaners do help.
Precautions in registry cleaners
Prior to starting cleaning of the registry, take a backup of the registry on any convenient location by following the easy steps mentioned below:
- Go to Start à Run
- Type “REGEDIT”
- On the top left corner, click on the “file” option and then on “export”
- Select the desired destination to store the registry files
- Click on “Save”
It is worthwhile to mention that making a backup takes less than a minute. Though this backup if useful, you may also opt for a manual backup instead, if you wish to.
